There was much I did not know when I decided to start making wine. Throughout Vintage #1 I learned an incredible amount. The funny thing is, as much as I’ve learned there is still so much I don’t know! Moving through each stage (getting grapes, making wine, aging wine, getting legal….), I find that the “holy sh*t, what do I do know!” feeling doesn’t necessarily go away, it just shifts focus. Right now I am hustling to have everything I need to bottle next month. Adding to the bustle is the upcoming harvest which may be only one and a half months out. So I’m trying to get everything sorted for that as well.

Stressful? Of course. Worth it? Hell yes.

Yesterday we sat at wrote out some tasting notes for my 2012 wines. I also got semi-final label designs in my inbox. And found the bottles I need to bottle this year. And finalized my order for corks. It was a big day, and I breathed a bit easier at the end of the day at having checked multiple items off my list.

Today I am splitting my time between checking more items off my list, doing some work things, and hanging out with my good friends who fly back to Vietnam tomorrow. A busy time, but I’m loving it.

In fact, I’m now getting excited again for harvest! Up until yesterday it was more: “Ah! I’m not ready!” Today the thought of it is making me grin.
