2015 “Voyager” Viognier
Sourced 50% from Serenade Vineyard in the Rogue Valley and 50% from Lange of Underwood Vineyard in the Columbia Valley. Fermented and aged 30% in neutral French oak and 70% in stainless steel.
Apples, citrus, with hints of tropical fruit. Bright and lively, this wine matches up to a hot sunny day and with the versatility to stand up to a variety of foods. Cheese? No problem. Turkey or duck? Perfect!
2015 Cabernet Franc
100% Cabernet Franc sourced from the Quady North Vineyard in the Applegate Valley of southerner Oregon. Spontaneous fermentation, aged 11 months in neutral French oak, bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Peppery and spicy, red and blue fruits mingling in the dusty earth. A hint of power lurks within nibbly tannins.
2015 Silvershot Vineyards Pinot Noir
From the vineyard formerly known as Crowley Station in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA of the Willamette Valley. A delightful own-rooted, non-irrigated vineyard owned and farmed by the Fischer family. Spontaneously fermented, aged for 11 months in neutral(ish) French oak, bottled unfined and unfiltered.
An intense yet elegant Pinot Noir. Gobs of bright red fruit, dusty soil with a few spring flowers popping through.
Sourced from Serenade Vineyard in the Rogue Valley. Fermented and aged 50% in stainless steel, 50% in neutral French oak.
Minerality! Spring blossoms! Gobs of citrus! Not your thick and heavy Viognier, this is a lively and crisp expression of the grape.
2014 Whité – A white Cabernet Franc
Sourced from the Quady North Vineyard in the Applegate Valley. Grapes were picked early, had the longest fermentation time of all the 2014 wines! Fermented and aged in stainless steel.
What does a white Cab Franc taste like? It’s everyone’s guess! Citrus, floral, maybe stony? Perfect for summer. Less than 50 cases produced.
2013 Cabernet Franc
This vintage all the Cabernet Franc was sourced from Quady North in southern Oregon. A different animal that the 2012, this year’s Cab Franc is leaner, more typical to the varietal, and all sorts of good. Red fruits, spices, a little pepper, and a little wild.
Less than 70 cases produced.
2013 Pinot Noir
The Jackalope 2013 Pinot has a little more finesse, is a little more coy than the JWC 2012 Pinot Noir. Once again sourced from Sojourner Vineyard in the Eola-Amity AVA. This year, however, we went with a blend of clones: 50% Wadenswil, 25% 115, 25% Pommard. A little whole cluster, a littler newer oak (a once-fill and a neutral barrel), unfiltered and unfined.
Less than 50 cases produced.
2013 Rosé of Cabernet Franc
100% Cabernet Franc from Mae’s Vineyard in the Applegate Valley. Only 23 cases produced!
Harvested on September 13, the juice got about 1.5 hours of skin contact before getting pressed into a neutral French oak barrel. Left unfiltered, the wine was hand-bottled in May of 2013.
Grapefruit, tangy, a little flinty, with great acid. And thanks to wildfires, there is a hint of smoke.
100% Viognier from Evans Vineyard, on Underwood Mountain in WA. Only 29 cases produced.
Columbia Gorge grapes, from a WA vineyard high up on Underwood Mountain across from Hood River. Picked on October 20, 2013.
Fermented and aged in neutral oak barrels. Unfined and unfiltered.
On the nose: orange blossoms, heady white flowers (jasmine?), gardenias. Nice and floral, but not obnoxious.
On the palate: peach skin, river rock, lemon zest, more spring flowers. A little peach pit. A wine that’s bright like the mid-day sun!
2012 Cabernet Franc
My first Cabernet Franc comes from the Six Prong Vineyard in Washington. A rambunctious, all stainless steel wine, this wine turned some heads. Only 25 cases produced.
Bright red fruits, jalapeño, dusky earth tones.
2012 Pinot Noir
Sourced from the Sojourner Vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA. All the fruit was the 115 clone. The fruit came in amazingly clean and gorgeous. On the sorting line, very little left the table for the floor.
Aged in French and Hungarian oak.
Spring flowers (lavender), raspberries, strawberry tea, and a hint of damp earth on the nose. Soft, sprightly tannins. Ripe red fruit (cherry, cranberries)
Dew-glistened raspberries, glazed cherries with rhubard in the background
